Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0 Can be Optimised for Nintendo Switch – Microsoft

Microsoft believes that, with some optimisation, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 should run just fine on the Nintendo Switch.

Despite the relatively weak hardware on the Nintendo Switch when compared to its contemporaries in the console market, Microsoft has revealed that it believes that it can get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as well as Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 to run on the platform.

In a recent statement released as a response to the UK’s CMA about Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition, the company stated that Warzone should be able to be optimised to run on the Nintendo Switch, since it also supports graphics cards from as far back as 2015.

“The Activision development team has a long history of optimizing game performance for available hardware capabilities,” said Microsoft (via VGC). The company also talks about Warzone’s game engine being mature enough to run on a wide range of hardware. The company also points at games like Apex Legends, DOOM Eternal, Fortnite, and Crysis 3 as shooters that have been ported to Nintendo Switch.

“The Parties are confident that in addition to Warzone, CoD buy-to-play titles (e.g., CoD: Modern Warfare 2) can be optimised to run on the Nintendo Switch in a timely manner using standard techniques which have been used to bring games such as Apex Legends, DOOM Eternal, Fortnite and Crysis 3 to the Switch,” it said.
