Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode Begins Development, Will be Released as Free DLC

Capcom has yet to offer any details on what exactly the remake's PlayStation VR2-exclusive content will entail or when it will launch.

The PlayStation VR2 has launched today, with the likes of Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, Gran Turismo 7, and more playable on the virtual reality headset right off the bat, but owners of Sony’s new hardware do obviously have other major releases to look forward to as well. One of those is Resident Evil 4’s upcoming remake, which Capcom confirmed last year would be getting a post-launch VR mode.

Now, the company has announced via the official Japanese Resident Evil Twitter page that Resident Evil 4’s VR mode has started development, while also confirming that much like Resident Evil Village’s PS VR2 support, the remake’s VR offerings will be released as free post-launch DLC.

What the VR mode will entail and what kind of scope it will have remains to be seen, while there’s also no word on when it’s expected to release- but given the fact that it’s only just started development, it seems safe to assume that it’ll be a while before we see it in action.

Resident Evil 4 is due out for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 24.
