The Last of Us Part 1 Officially Announced, Ground-up Remake Launches This September

The ground-up remake will feature enhanced combat, animations, exploration, and more, along with improved visuals.

Sadly, this doesn’t come as a surprise. The Last of Us Part 1 – a ground-up remake of Naughty Dog’s seminal 2013 title – was fully leaked by PlayStation itself earlier today (and the day before that, for that matter), and now, it’s been officially announced. Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann took the stage at Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live to unveil the game and close the show.

The Last of Us Part 1 will feature several enhancements, and not just on the gameplay front, with Naughty Dog promising improvements made to combat, movement, stealth, AI, and more. According to Druckmann, the developer has taken lessons it learned from games like Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2 and applied them to this remake, on top of the obvious visual enhancements. Check out its trailer below.

The Last of Us Part 1 will launch for PS5 on September 2. A PC version is also in development, but doesn’t yet have a release date.
