Ubisoft revealed a whole host of new Assassin’s Creed games earlier this year, offering a glimpse of what the future holds for the franchise over the next few years. While the relatively smaller-scale Assassin’s Creed Mirage is due out next year (allegedly in August), the next big evolution for the franchise won’t come until Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and Codename HEXE arrive and kickstart the series’ Infinity era.

Now, new details may have emerged on how their development is progressing- and it seems like a bit of a mixed bag. In a report published on Insider Gaming, journalist Tom Henderson has said that Assassin’s Creed Codename RED (developed by Ubisoft Quebec) is facing development issues behind the scenes, including a number of departures from the studio (partly due to widespread allegations of abuse).

At the same time, Henderson claims Codename HEXE (developed by Ubisoft Montreal) was “received with overwhelming positivity” during its proof-of-concept stages, and might even be about to start full production soon.

So what exactly does that mean for the launch timing of both games? Previous leaks have claimed that Assassin’s Creed Codename RED is targeting a 2024 launch, while Codename HEXE is tentatively aiming to release in 2026. With RED’s development issues, however, there’s a chance that the game ends up getting pushed back into 2025.

Of course, none of this is officially confirmed by Ubisoft, which means there’s little concrete information about what the company has planned for either project. We’ll keep an eye out for more details, so stay tuned for further updates.
