Atomic Heart

After years of development and multiple delays, Mundfish’s Atomic Heart was released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Considering the quality of recent PC releases, it’s surprisingly well-optimized. That doesn’t mean it’s completely free from issues. Let’s look at some of the bigger problems and potential workarounds for them.

Before that, please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems or issues that may occur from trying the below. Remember that official support is always the best support.

PC Requirements

Your system must meet the specified requirements since performance issues and lag can often result from your hardware not being up to snuff. Let’s look at all the requirements, from minimum to Ultra 4K/60 FPS. Remember that you’ll need Windows 10 (20H1 version or newer), 90 GB of installation space and DirectX 12 for all configurations.

Minimum 30 FPS (Low settings, 1080p/30 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 380
  • RAM: 8 GB, though 12 GB is recommended
  • Storage: HDD works, but SSD is recommended

Minimum 60 FPS (Low settings, 1080p/60 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580
  • RAM: 8 GB, though 12 GB is recommended
  • Storage: HDD works, but SSD is recommended

Medium (Medium settings, 1080p/60 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: SSD mandatory

High (High settings, 1080p/60 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: SSD mandatory

Ultra 60 FPS (Ultra, 1080p/60 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: SSD mandatory

Ultra 4K/60 FPS (Ultra, 4K/60 FPS)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: SSD mandatory

With that out of the way, let’s look at some of the biggest issues.

Neuromodules are Unobtainable

Before its last big patch, a bug prevented Neuromodules from being collected after defeating a boss. They would remain stuck in the environment, no matter what players did. While the issue has been fixed for new saves, old saves are still affected. There’s no workaround, but Mundfish has confirmed that its next patch (which doesn’t have a release date) will fix the issue for old saves.

Dynamic Super Resolution Not Working

Dynamic Super Resolution is supported, but selecting it doesn’t apply to the game. Instead, it applies only to the desktop resolution, whether you’re playing in Windowed or exclusively fullscreen. One fix involves changing the desktop to the Dynamic Super Resolution before running the game, which applies the latter properly in-game. The downside is having to set this every time you play the game. A fix has yet to be confirmed.

Crashes

Crashes can also occur, and while patches have been released to improve stability, the odd crash or two can still happen. Follow the usual steps, like downloading the latest Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon drivers. You can also verify the integrity of game files on Steam by right-clicking the title in your Steam Library, selecting Properties, and going to the Local Files tab. Select verify the integrity of game files, and if anything is missing, they should be re-downloaded.

Note: Given the wide range of PC hardware available, some of the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. However, it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for some players.
