E3 2009: Dead or Renaissance?

Posted By | On 13th, Sep. 2009

E3 is at the Los Angeles Convention Center this time around. But what we are hoping is that E3 rose from the dead and go back to the E3 that we loved and remember. The last couple of years at the big gaming event known as E3 was known as being not so chaotic. A lot of people remember it as loud, chaos, screaming. That is what we want in E3. But the last two years, it has been like a museum on the inside. Let?s see if E3 can pull it off. But first let?s start out with the main two generally harder core gaming consoles: Microsoft and Sony.

So what our Gaming Bolt team is looking for at the E3 convention is:

Microsoft: There is something going around about camera/motion-control thing. This is something that we are all skeptical about. This could be something very cool or something just makes you shake your head and walk away. Well since Sony and Nintendo both have motion control, I guess Microsoft needs to jump on the band wagon as well. We hope to see more of Halo: ODST which is a prequel to the previous series campaign.

We also want to see Mass Effect 2. They are saying if you still have your save-files from the first Mass Effect, then you will get to continue your character in Mass Effect 2 because the decisions you made in Mass Effect will continue over to Mass Effect 2 as well. If you do not have the save file then you have to make a new character.

Mass Effect 2 will be darker than the first game, according to BioWare, stating that “Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril.? And also for the people who think that Metal Gear Solid 4 will come to the X-Box 360, might get it and might not. SomeSony fanboys are hoping it will not and the Microsoft fanboys are hoping it is. Or maybe they just want to play a masterpiece of a game.

Who is curious on whether Microsoft is going to have a handheld like Nintendo and Sony? Why not? Everyone else is doing that too.

Sony: We are hoping for a price cut on the Playstation 3 gaming console. This is just a rumor, but we all hope it is true, but honestly Sony must announce it. Also the PSP is going into bad shape right now, and we need to see what is going to happen to that. Are they going to announce another PSP? Maybe the new LittleBigPlanet game for it might pop the sales back up for it?

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one of those games that we need to see more of. There has been some leaked gameplay, and we want more! The question is, are we even going to hear anything about Elena Fisher or Victor ?Sully? Sullivan in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves? And are we going to find out who Chloe really is and her ties into the game? We will just have to wait and see.

Update: This video is no longer available.

Is Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer going to live up to its hype with the videos we have seen? The plot is what is going to make this game as you can tell. But seeing how this game is driven on plot, they are keeping it behind locked doors. It looks like you are going to choose your fate. You decide what is going to happen. But they are going to be at E3 showing off a new game scene. Can?t wait for that.

Another questions are: Is Kojima going to announce another Metal Gear Solid? Metal Gear Solid 5 perhaps? Is Raiden going to be the star this time around? Or another new IP? You look and be the judge.

Sony and Microsoft Games: Also we are looking for great games such as Bioshock 2, going back to Rapture and being a Big Daddy and meeting a Big Sister. Scary huh? This time around, you will get to see Rapture for what it is. You will get to go outside of Rapture into the water and see the amazing atmosphere of it. This is a game that I know us a Gaming Bolt will be checking out for sure.

Modern Warfare 2 is another one on our charts at Gaming Bolt. The first one was the game that set up the podium for FPS (First Person Shooters). Let?s hope that Activision can pull it off again for another great game which looks like the setting this time is in the snowy atmosphere.

There are other games that we didn?t mention as well such as Borderlands, Assassin?s Creed 2, Final Fantasy 13, and Final Fantasy 13 Versus, and other great games. We will inform you as E3 draws closer on the great hits.

So overall, does Microsoft have some aces up their sleeve on new games, or anything new? Is Sony going to announce a new game? Is there going to be a handheld for Microsoft? Is there going to be a price cut for a Playstation 3? We will have to wait and see.

But like the title states, is E3 dead? We will see if it goes back to the chaotic atmosphere it had, which this makes it actually feel like a real gaming convention, and with these great games coming out, it will be an E3 to remember and a year for gaming to remember at well with all the surprises and the great hits coming our way and yours.
