Hogwarts Legacy

Leveling up in Hogwarts Legacy is a bit difficult, to say the least. For instance, the opportunity to increase your level via combat is rare, at least compared to the non-combat options. The game won’t be throwing a lot of XP your way. Yes, there are dungeon enemies to fight and dungeons to explore, but those encounters are few and far between.

The bulk of your XP comes from collecting objects throughout the game or solving puzzles using magic. Once the seasons change, you’ll need to be at least level 13-15 to continue progressing through the main story. This guide will discuss how you can quickly earn XP alongside other methods so that you can fall back on one should get with the others.

How to Farm XP Fast in Hogwarts Legacy

The quickest way you can accumulate XP is by unlocking the Battle Arena. Head far north and east of the Forbidden Forest. Once you’re at the East North Ford Bog Floo Flame, travel northeast to reach the Battle Arena. You’ll have to destroy 20 pots spread around the ruin to unlock it first. You can find most of them along the interior and exterior of the wall.

Once the Arena is unlocked, you can battle enemy waves to earn XP. The arena consists of 7 waves and every wave is stronger than the previous one.

How to prepare yourself for the Battle Arena?

Don’t take the battles lightly; equip yourself with plenty of healing potions before venturing in. You’ll also need to be a skilled fighter in order to overcome waves. There will be multiple enemies, so spatial awareness is essential. Knowing which enemies to focus on first and timing your defensive spells will be the key to winning battles. A full run can take up to 10 minutes so prepare yourself.

How much XP do you get from the Battle Arena?

The later waves can reward close to ~150 XP which is a significant amount. If you’re having a tough time, you can lower the difficulty after finishing the current run. There is no penalty for switching levels so feel free to adjust it according to your skill level.

You can level up from level 13 to 15 in just two runs, which is super efficient, especially compared to other options. However, if you do get bored with the incessant fighting, there are other grinding techniques you can try out as well.

Another Leveling Technique other than the Battle Arena

Quests

Quests are your go-to option for farming XP, at least during the early levels. However, simply going through the main quests isn’t enough. You’ll also have to do a decent number of side quests in order to level up your character for the challenges that lie ahead, as the XP gained from the main quests isn’t enough. The bosses will always appear much stronger if you only rely on the main quest XP.

Fast Leveling Tips in Hogwarts Legacy

Grinding Challenges and Quests

You always want to have a quest or challenge active on your player. Not all of them grant a significant amount of XP, but over the course of the game, every single XP point matters. Don’t just focus on the main story. Hogwarts is a massive world with loads of NPCs waiting to give out quests. There are numerous areas to explore, monsters to defeat, beasts to tame and friends to be made. You’d be shocked at how much XP you can earn, simply by enjoying the game.

Dueling Feats

Dueling Feasts appear on the lower right part of your screen. They are optional objectives that net you bonus XP, making them a quick but sneaky way to earn XP.

Benefits of Leveling up fast in Hogwarts Legacy

In addition to unlocking more powerful stuff, leveling up grants you Talent Points that you can use to buff your spells’ effectiveness. You can also use them to upgrade the efficiency of your plants and potions. Allocate the points based on your playstyle. Here is a list of all the Talent Trees:

  • Core
  • Dak Arts
  • Spells
  • Stealth
  • Room of Requirement

You can only earn a maximum of 36 Talent Points so do some research before allocating them to the path of your choice.
