Metroid: Samus Returns Gets A Hell Of A Commercial Celebrating The Return Of Gaming’s Most Beloved Heroine

It's time to take the last Metroid into captivity.

Metroid hasn’t had a major release in seven years now – unless you count last year’s farce that was Federation Force as a major release – so the upcoming Samus Returns marks an occasion of return for the beloved franchise. Thankfully, Nintendo is treating it with the appropriate gravitas, and putting their full marketing force behind it.

Take this newest commercial for the game, for instance- it’s short and sweet, but it highlights just how exciting the upcoming 2D action platforming entry looks to be. There’s some quick footage of the high paced, frenetic kinetic action in the game, combined with some classic Metroid tunes, and even a cool, 1990s style voice over.

Metroid: Samus Returns is due out in September exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS- Nintendo will also be putting out special Amiibo, as well as a Limited Edition for the game, andMetroid themed New 3DS XL model, to commemorate the occasion. If you are a Switch owner and want in on the Metroid goodness, don’t worry- Nintendo has Metroid Prime 4 planned for the Switch in the future.
