PC isn’t being pushed the way it used to, consoles are the culprit – Star Citizen Creator

Fact.

We know for a fact that consoles can churn out some good looking games, but they aren’t even remotely close to what a high end PC can do.

Many people have these gaming rigs but don’t have much to brag about when it comes to showing visually impeccable games, according to Star Citizen and Wing Commander creator, Chris Roberts.

“It’s the best platform because it’s always evolving, and it’s open. But no one’s really pushing PC. There are a lot of PC gamers who are proud of their gaming rigs but don’t have anything to really show it off,” he told PC Gamer.

But he also blamed the consoles in a way. I kind of agree with him because considering the console install base and software sales, third-party publishers usually concentrate on them first and then make it for the PC as well. Of course, this is a sad state of affairs but it’s also something that is a reality we cannot escape from, unless something becomes really big (Steam). The last part is me being hopeful, but the state of PC gaming, I feel, is much better now than what it was a few years ago.

“Because I’m not worrying about current day consoles, there’s a level of detail I can do that wouldn’t otherwise be possible,” he revealed. “Just the memory it would take to store these textures – you just don’t have that on the consoles.”

“I made my name doing PC games, and I love PC games. It’s the best platform because it’s always evolving, and it’s open. But no one’s really pushing PC. There are a lot of PC gamers who are proud of their gaming rigs but don’t have anything to really show it off.”

Do you agree with his line of thinking? He’s absolutely correct in my opinion, but what do you think?
