WILD HEARTS - Golden Tempest

Hack and slash games become more enjoyable when you’re able to do insane combos using a wide variety of armaments. WILD HEARTS contains eight weapons, each with a unique playstyle. When it comes to combat and maneuverability, the developers pretty much nailed it.

No weapon is completely bad. Some are easier to pick up and are more efficient at dealing damage than others. But if you stick with a weapon long enough, you’ll become a master at slaying enemies, no matter how difficult they become. The weapons in this game are well-balanced so this guide differentiates between them based on their overall DPS. Let’s begin!

How to unlock Weapons in WILD HEARTS

Out of the eight weapons, you can craft five of them (Karakuri katana, Nodachi, Bow, Maul, Bladed Wagasa) from the beginning of the story. After defeating the Earthshaker, the remaining weapons (Hand Cannon, Claw Blade, Karakuri Staff) become available at the start of Chapter 2.

How to Upgrade Weapons in WILD HEARTS

In order to upgrade and craft new weapons, you’ll have to build the Field Forge. The building is unlocked once you’ve defeated the Ragetail in Chapter 1. Once the building is up, you won’t have to return to the hub town of Minato in order to upgrade or create new weapons.

What is the Best Weapon in WILD HEARTS

Easy Tier:

The Nodachi, Maul, Bow, and Karakuri Katana are straightforward weapons in terms of playstyle. Combined with the Spring and Crate Karakuri, you’ll have access to a wide range of attacks and dynamic movement options. If you’re a fan of mobile weapons, then you should try one of the above.

The Cannon is similar to the bow in terms of ease of use. However, it relies on building up a meter to launch devastating attacks. It’s not as mobile as the others mentioned above, but if you like hitting hard, then the cannon is a perfect fit for you.

Medium Tier:

The Bladed Wagasa is a complicated weapon that relies on parrying enemy attacks to build-up the special meter. Mastering the weapon takes time as you’ll have to memorize the enemy’s attack patterns in order to successfully parry them. The Bladed Wasaga is a perfect fit for you if you like combo weapons that rely on well-timed parries.

The Karakuri Staff can transform itself based on your combo. This makes it a versatile weapon. The combos aren’t too difficult, and you can pull them off with relative ease. If you’re unsure which weapon to use and want a little bit of everything, the staff is the weapon for you.

Hard Tier:

Claw Blades are the last weapons in the list. They do not require the same level of skill as the Bladed Wagasa, and can deal 300+ damage to the target. The only disadvantage of the weapon is that they are much harder to control when you’re lunging towards a Kemono. If you’re an adrenaline junkie who likes to zoom about and crash into enemies like a comet, make sure to pick the Claw Blades.
